ROLES

We have recently reviewed this service and consequently have a number of exciting opportunities in our Planning Policy Team, which is primarily responsible for:

 

  • The preparation of the Local Plan and other planning policy documents dealing with specific areas, topics or Neighbourhoods.

  • Drafting topic papers, planning briefs and other material required as part of corporate policy development.

  • Producing the necessary programme of survey, analysis, and policy generation associated with the preparation of planning policies.

  • Public participation exercises related to developing statutory and supplementary planning policies.

  • Monitoring development in the Borough and Neighbourhoods and preparing related performance and monitoring data.

  • To give advice on the policy implications of planning applications.

  • Monitoring CIL payments and other S106 planning obligations. 

  • To lead on provision of advice on all transport projects and inputs into strategic consultations affecting the Borough, interpreting Government strategies.

Principal Planner (Planning Policy)

In this role you will work to achieve challenging performance targets and objectives and be responsible for the delivery of individual projects and workstreams, which will involve managing the work of other planners or project team members.

You will hold budgetary responsibility for specific projects, play a key role in the annual team planning process and achieving improvements in service delivery.​ You will also be expected to deputise for the Lead Officer (Planning Policy), when required.​

Senior Planner (Planning Policy)

As a Senior Planner you will leads on key projects and work streams within the Planning Policy team work plan.

This will involve preparing documents and publications of a complex nature and strategic importance, commissioning work from external partners and working to and achieving challenging performance targets and objectives. You will make a significant contribution to the delivery of the Local Plan in this role.

A number of our planning roles are offered on a career graded scale (D-J), enabling you to progress your career once you demonstrate the required skills and experience at each level.

Senior Transport Planner (Planning Policy)

As a Senior Transport Planner you will leads on key projects and work streams within the Planning Policy team work plan.

You will lead on the provision of advice on all transport projects and inputs into strategic consultations affecting the Borough, interpreting Government strategies, You will make a significant contribution to the delivery of the Local Plan in this role.

Career Grade Planners (Planning Policy)

Our Assistant Planners and Planners will assist with the preparation of the Local Plan and other planning policy documents dealing with specific areas, topics or Neighbourhoods. 

This will also include contributing to topic papers, planning briefs and other material required as part of corporate policy development, as well as giving advice on the policy implications of planning applications.​
